I am not motivated to read, right now.  I have put The Sucker’s Kiss on top of Calamity Physics, and realised I have read about the same amount of each book.

I haven’t given up on it yet, I just don’t feel the urge to pick it up.

So for this week, I am having a brain break – only my writing can fill my skull… I am trying to fit too much in again, so reading has to take a little bit of a back seat.

Hopefully if the writing group goes well on Thursday I will be back to the books, ready to explore another writer’s imagination. But until then, it’s all about (writing) me!

Happy reading,

EJ

🙂

This weekend has been rather chaotic and disorganised.  I have decided for the sake of sense not to try writing now, when I may fall asleep mid sentence, but to hold off until tomorrow.

Will be back then, with the tale of an unexpected poet!

Happy writing,

EJ

I am sorry not to have been around but it’s been a bit of a week!

I will try to get a post sorted tomorrow but if not, please bear with me – it’s one of those times when real life has to be given some extra attention.

Happy writing,

EJ

It’s the Easter long weekend and we’ve been celebrating birthdays as well as getting together with family, so I am pretty much on holiday today!

I will write a post after the next birthday celebration, which is tomorrow, but for now I will say good night.

For those celebrating Easter I hope you have had a wonderful day, for those who are not, I hope you have had a wonderful day too!

Happy writing,

EJ

This hasn’t been a great week for writing.  I don’t know where the time is going, but it hasn’t been going towards my poetry.

Well, I’ve had a few ideas and rambling thoughts but they always seem to bubble up when I am halfway between places and can’t stop to record them.

One made it to paper when I got home, and I am quite excited about it, but it’s a story not a poem so although I can add notes and ideas, it shouldn’t be my focus…  Everything else was absorbed into the ether, never to take physical form.

It would be easy to waffle on at this point about the whys and wherefores, but you’re all human and you all know that some weeks are more productive than others.

My task now is to put a bit more effort in over the next couple of days. It helps that I am faced with some glorious sunshine at the moment which buoys me up no end; perhaps an hour or so sitting outside, listening to nature, will get me back on track.

And if the poetry is really off this week I still have prose, reading and studying to fill my writing needs!

Happy writing,

EJ

🙂

It has just gone midnight and I have not finished writing a blog post for the day. As I have previously fallen asleep writing posts at this sort of time (and I apologise for those, they probably make very little sense), I am going to defer until tomorrow.

I do know the post will feature discussions about photography and possibly cakes…

Catch up tomorrow/later today when I have slept and been to work!

Happy writing,

EJ

You may have noticed my lack of a Thursday post this week.  Or not!

I was all set to write about Hedda Gabler, which I was seeing that night, but unfortunately I became ill just before the show started and missed it. And, by default, posting about it.

I didn’t even feel up to explaining!

So this week has been a bit of a blip week.  I lost creative time, I wasn’t in the right mood to write for a few days, and the weekend got super-busy. Still, two good writing things happened:

1. I finally booked my tickets for the crime writing convention – and still have time to enter the flash fiction competition if I fancy.

2. I have agreed to work on some more performances with a musician friend, and we are about to start work on a new set.

Oh and I guess a third, if you’re being generous: I have started getting some ideas together for a new series of poems about the world.  Nothing on paper yet but my need to explore different feelings and experiences lives on, and poetry is the best outlet for it, by far.

In more fun news, I have a few trips away planned and these always bring inspiration and new concepts so I am looking forward to seeing what comes of those.

Also, my ‘writing in different places’ plan hasn’t really played out but there is a whole new option opening (quite literally) soon, which I think will be a real positive for me.

Watch this space, and keep your fingers crossed!

Happy writing,

EJ

🙂

Sorry for the late posting; what with internet connection issues, overtime, and the overwhelming need to sleep, this week became a bit of a palaver blog-wise.

Now it’s the weekend and I’m conscious that I’ll be blogging tomorrow and am out all day today on the hunt for wedding accoutrements, so this post is very short indeed.  I was struggling to find something to write about but felt bad for missing a post and wanted to do something.

And then I found a fabulous quote from Hilary Mantel on Brainyquote, which fitted my needs perfectly:

Imagination only comes when you privilege the subconscious, when you make delay and procrastination work for you.

I’m not missing my target posting dates. I’m feeding my subconscious with information that will spark something wonderful one day 🙂

Happy writing,

EJ

🙂
