Ok, I promise I’ll move on soon, but this week I read another of the Wheel of Time books. What can I say – I like a bit of escapism sometimes!
Book 41 – The Dragon Reborn, by Robert Jordan. As this is a continuation of the previous two and people may be exploring the stories, I have decided not to say too much here – the saga develops, it becomes clear that Mat, Rand and Perrin are unable to escape their fates, although Mat’s fate isn’t entirely clear, yet. Perrin’s meets a woman who could be his curse or salvation, and Nynaeve, Egwene and Elayne throw themselves into the fire once more.
As reviews go, this is similar to last week’s review, really – with the additional points that Egwene is becoming an annoying character, and Elayne and Nynaeve are being sacrificed a little to build Egwene’s story; Moraine and Siuan prove that Jordan can write female characters with a bit of depth but most of the women in this book are a mass of beauties with attitude problems!
There are 14 books in this series so I think this will have to be the last post I write about them or it will become too tedious for me, let alone you! However, I will continue to count those I am reading for challenge purposes simply because when I read them, there’s not a lot of time to fit in anything else (I started book 4 today, and it’s 1000 pages long!). I will try to intersperse with some less dense books to write about here.
I won’t be about next Tuesday as I am away celebrating my first wedding anniversary so that will give me a chance to write about something new for the next challenge post!
Happy reading,
EJ
