Today has been about cake, and this post is the result of a very one-track mind 😉
I had a tasting session for my wedding cakes today and after four individual cakes shared between my partner and I, we came home with a box of them. I feel over-fed and a little over-sugared, and really sleepy!
Cake has often been my reward for writing well, and my diversion when writing badly, but I’ve never spent quite as much time thinking about it as I am at the moment.  Saying that, I do find baking really inspiring, and the simple act of mixing ingredients can make a knotty scene make sense.  I think it’s using the creative part of my brain in a different way that releases blocked synapses, or something – all I know is that cake is good!
I am not using my computer today but was very kindly lent one which came with this picture of a rather delightfully chocolatey cake my sister made…
If ever there was a perfect subject for love poetry, chocolate cake is it, hey?!
I’m going to rest my cake-addled mind now, and go to bed.  With all think cake-talk though, I expect thoroughly inspiring thoughts to come to me in my sleep!
Happy writing,
EJ

That is one impressive chocolate cake! Cake therapy should be a recognised medical remedy.

I just happen to be eating chocolate cake right now. lol
That’s the universe telling you you’re subconsciously in tune with your writing, or some such – hope you enjoyed it!
