I drafted a couple of blog posts for this week, but each time I got about half way through they seemed a bit heavy, or gloomy, or wordy. And if I don’t find them interesting, I’m sure you won’t either!
So I thought I’d tell you a bit about my plan for starting the third novel… And thanks to Dianne Gray for the post on works in progress which has put this into the forefront of my mind!
Book 3 will be a comedy – a full on comedy rather than a drama with light-hearted elements. It will be my light relief, but also a challenge as I have never tried to write a story like it. It is almost certainly going to be a collaboration with someone else too, which is also new and exciting!
Ok, I’m getting ahead of myself here – I’m still working on 1 and 2, so 3 seems a bit too far ahead to worry about. Still, you know I like a target, and you know I like the writing more than the editing, so it makes perfect sense to me to have a target set out to get novel 3 under way as respite from revisions. Especially as I’ll be working on it when revising the NaNoWriMo work which may well be truly dreadful!
So my new plan is:
1. Finish the woods novel first draft by 15 January 2013 (that’s 15,000 words in 15 days, should be ok!)
2. Finish re-editing the family tree novel by 31 January 2013. (Any proofreading adjustments have to be done by the end of this month according to my to-do list but if new scenes are needed I’ll do them in January!)
3. Start first revision of the woods novel from 1 February 2013
4. Start planning for book 3 from 1 February 2013
5. Finish initial planning stage of book 3 by 28 February 2013
I’ve fitted this in with the to-do list so as long as I stick with that I’ll be ok!
If it’s all looking ropey I’m going to have to do a mini-NaNo from 1-15 January to get me to the end of the woods novel. I really don’t want it hanging about like the last one…
If anyone else wants to do the mini-NaNo let me know and we can buddy up – I have a strong suspicion it’ll be needed!
Happy writing,
EJ

Ver well done, EJ! I’m so glad I was able to help you with this *blushing* 😀
I love your ‘to do’ list – there’s nothing better than having a plan and looking forward to it! 😉
😀
I love making plans. I’m not always great at keeping to them, but at least I have aspirations!!
Bonjour my name is Sally and I’m a blogger and this blog really helped me. I’m enthused! Thanks very much!
[…] you remember back in week 69, dudes (a bit of Bill and Ted love, there!) I set myself a plan of action for January and February. […]
