Yesterday was a busy day, and the novel was the loser, time wise. Sometimes with these projects you forget to schedule in a bit of a social life!
However, I did fix the problem of the cul-de-sac scene and I’m really happy with the way I got out of it, as it incorporated some of the supernatural elements that run through the book. Thanks to Laith and Dianne: I took both your suggestions and merged them with an idea I had and the chimera of an outcome seems to have worked!
That’s the good.
The bad is that I completely fell down on the word count, and have lost in effect half a days worth of writing. That wouldn’t be such a problem if I was not already behind – 25,000 words by the end of Thursday is looking unlikely.
Today is indifferent, so far – I haven’t gained any of my lost ground, but I haven’t lost any more either.
So what next? Well, I’ve got into the third chapter, and the next scene is the clairvoyance one I spoke about a while ago, so I will be writing that before turning in for the night. I will still aim for that 25,000 mark, because even if I don’t get there I’m catching up most days.
In other words – it’s looking good but maybe not as good as I’d hoped.
Still, another three full writing days plus tonight, before my self-imposed midpoint target – it is possible as long as I stay focussed!
Happy writing,
EJ

Hey EJ, glad our suggestions helped you get out of your corner.
They did, and they’re useful tips generally so I’ll keep them in mind when I next write myself into a corner!

Defining deadlines will be the next step to be considered in your plan. Sometimes between writing about passion and writing generally speaking, there is certainly always something that makes me wish that I could write more.
